Sourdough Workshops: Building Community, One Skill at a Time

Sourdough Workshops: Building Community, One Skill at a Time

When we opened Lemon & Lavender in 2021, we knew we wanted to be more than a place to buy products. We wanted it to be a place where people could slow down, connect, learn something new, and spend intentional time together. That’s how our workshops began. From the very beginning, our goal has been to give women an opportunity to gather with friends—or make new ones—while learning more about a skill, craft, or practice that can bring a little more simplicity into everyday life. Every workshop we offer is rooted in our Back-to-the-Basics philosophy: simple ingredients, simple processes, useful skills, and a more intentional, simple way of living. There’s something special about stepping away from the busyness of everyday life for a few hours and simply creating something together.

And then there’s sourdough. Somehow, what started as a workshop quickly became a Lemon & Lavender tradition. Sourdough has been so incredibly popular that, since we first began offering these workshops, we’ve hosted at least one nearly every month. There’s just something about learning to make bread from a few simple ingredients that resonates with our Back-to-the-Basics mindset. It’s hands-on, practical, a little nostalgic, and it gives you a skill you can continue using long after you leave the workshop. The response has even led to multiple requests for private sourdough workshops, where organizations, groups of friends, or families can come together for a more personal experience. We’ve even hosted a private couples’ workshop—and it was an absolute blast! Whether you’re coming with your best friend, a group of coworkers, your spouse, or simply showing up on your own, our workshops are designed to make learning something new feel fun and connected.

Our sourdough workshops are led by the wonderful Courtney Fults, owner of The Sour Crumb. Courtney has become such a special part of the Lemon & Lavender community, and we love the opportunity to collaborate with other local women who are passionate about what they do. Click here to learn more about Courtney, The Sour Crumb, and how our collaboration was featured in Madison Mompreneur’s first “Made in Madison” series. That series is also such a wonderful example of why building connections among local women matters. For women who own a business—whether they work from home, have a storefront, or work somewhere in between—there is so much value in finding other women who genuinely understand what it’s like to balance work, family, and personal life while building something of your own. Collaboration creates community, and community makes all of us stronger.

Introducing Our New 4 Scent Collection: Serenity, Restore, Purify, and Energize

March 25, 2026

Our new 4 Scent Collection — Serenity, Restore, Purify, and Energize — is designed to turn everyday self-care into a simple, intentional ritual. Each collection includes a bath soak, body scrub, and all-natural body spray to create a complete, layered experience for both skin and well-being.

Start with a mineral-rich soak to relax muscles, soften skin, and reset your mind. Follow with a body scrub to gently exfoliate and reveal smoother, more radiant skin. Finish with a clean, essential oil-based body spray for a light, mood-boosting scent — without the harsh chemicals of traditional fragrances.

Each scent serves a purpose: Serenity calms and relaxes, Restore soothes sore muscles, Purify detoxifies and refreshes, and Energize uplifts and revitalizes — giving you exactly what your body needs, when you need it.
